  14. Now now. We can't _prove_ they receive money for good reviews. That's
  15. along the same lines of the claims that companies pay EB clerks when they
  16. push their product over others. This can constitue as racketeering on the
  17. part of the manufacturers, and IS illegal, just as much as accepting those
  18. offers, so be careful about claiming stuff like that... 'Course we know
  19. from Nintendo that it DOES happen...

  27. IMO, I was appauled at the announcement of EGM2. It consists -mostly- of
  28. arcade and import information which could easily fit into the ordinary
  29. EGM. EGM still has a good enough ad-to-copy ratio that I'm sure they could
  30. pull this off easily. And $4.99 for this extra info? Please, Steve. Your
  31. circulation is good enough, I'm sure your ad rates are doing you guys
  32. fine.

  34. I will say something about Cinescape tho': The magazine of movies and
  35. media on the edge?! Star Wars, The Mask, and Star Trek:Generations? It is
  36. too laugh... Try reading Film Threat and _then_ see what kind of "edge"
  37. your magazine is on.
  38. How about "Same old, same old."
  39. I'm still involved in the magazine business, so a lot of things still make
  40. me laugh about EGM.

  45. Unfortunately, EGM has gone from a magazine that reports news to a
  46. magazine that reports rumors. EGM2 was meant to cut lead time, but I still
  47. opened up the last issue and saw that mention of the $199 FZ-10. Looks
  48. like they've been listening to the net too much and not to their contacts
  49. in the industry, which should be the reason why they're printing a
  50. magazine and we're not.
